Daily Devotional: Connect 40 – Day 18 – Higher Living

“For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord. – Isaiah 55:8 (NKJV)

Today’s Thought

God has unconventional ways of reaching His children. His love is limitless and His grace knows no bounds. Nothing about how God operates can be considered normal. You serve a supernatural God! Everything you bring to God in prayer, according to His Word, He answers. There may be times you become discouraged because your prayers weren’t answered in the way you thought. Regardless of what you think, choose to possess a “God, I trust You” attitude.

God’s thoughts are higher than yours. As you remain connected to Him, He will reveal to you His plan for your life. God’s plan for your life will be bigger, better, and even more rewarding than you ever imagined!

Connect to God

Trust God to do exceeding abundantly above all you can ask or think in your life today. Allow God to be unconventional!

Daily Devotional: Connect 40 – Day 17 – Live Connected

I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. – John 15:5 (NKJV)

Today’s Thought

In this verse, Jesus says, “I am the vine, you are the branches.” He did not say, “I am the vine, try to be the branches.” In other words, He wants us to realize that we are already the branches. We do not have to struggle to become the branches. As His branches, we only have to abide or remain in Christ our vine. How do we do that? We do that by simply being conscious every day of our position in Christ. Because we have received Christ, we are in Christ and are accepted in the Beloved. God accepts us because we are in the Beloved and He is in us. That is how God sees us today when we come into His presence.

What the devil wants to do then is to get you to focus on your condition instead of your position in Christ. The condition you are facing could be financial lack or deteriorating health. The devil wants you to focus on your condition and forget your position-that you are the righteousness of God in Christ and that you are seated with Him in heavenly places at the Father’s right hand. He wants you to forget that you are an heir of God and a joint heir with Christ.

Connect to God

Focus on your position in Christ. This will give you the power to change your condition and circumstances.

Daily Devotional: Connect 40 – Day 16 – I Am With You

Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand. – Isaiah 41:10 (NKJV)

Today’s Thought

It is easy to say, “Praise the Lord! Hallelujah!” when times are good. It is easy to believe that God loves you when you are on the mountain top enjoying the sunshine. But what happens when you are down in the dark valley surrounded by your enemies? Perhaps today, you are in the valley of marital, financial, or bodily trouble, and you are asking, “Where is God?” He is right there with you. God is saying, “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.”

Fear manifests itself in a myriad of ways. Whether it’s through insecurities, avoidance, or outbursts of anger make a decision to remind yourself God is with you today. Fear is a feeling, and rooted in a thought God will not be who He said He is in your life. Simply put, fear is the opposite of faith. Purpose to live by faith and do not let fear rule your life. Connect to God and you will experience a fulfilling, satisfying, peaceful, and joyful life in Christ. Refuse to live in fear any longer. You are not alone.

Connect to God

Are there some areas of fear in your life that are hindering you from fulfilling your purpose? Take some time to study the Bible and meditate on God’s Word. Pray and ask God to reveal to you those areas of fear that are holding you back and ask for His strength and grace to overcome them.

Daily Devotional: Connect 40 – Day 15 – God’s Perspective vs. Your Perspective

So if you’re serious about living this new resurrection life with Christ, act like it. Pursue the things over which Christ presides. Don’t shuffle along, eyes to the ground, absorbed with the things right in front of you. Look up, and be alert to what is going on around Christ-that’s where the action is. See things from his perspective. – Colossians 3:1-2 (MSG)

Today’s Thought

There was a person who was sitting on a runway awaiting their plane to depart to their final destination. As time came closer for takeoff, they could not help to notice the enormous trees, fast cars, and beautiful mansions surrounding the airport runway. Once the plane left the runway and reached its cruising altitude, this same person noticed the same trees, cars, and mansions but this time they seemed like miniature toys. What changed? It was where they were now seated.

When you choose to focus on God and that He has seated you in heavenly places with Christ Jesus, what once seemed overwhelming and insurmountable will now appear minuscule. See life from God’s perspective and not your own. Every day, you will be bombarded with constant pressures to either submit to the Spirit or submit to the flesh. God’s perspective does not change, but His perspective will change you.

Connect to God

Perspective serves as a filter to our heart and influences what we think, say, and do. Even though your spirit – became new the moment you became born again, there is still work to do with your mind. God wants you to begin viewing your life and identity the exact same way He views it.

Daily Devotional: Connect 40 – Day 14 – Freedom From Condemnation

There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. – Romans 8:1 (NKJV)

Today’s Thought

Today, God wants you to live free from condemnation. This freedom will cause you to walk tall and be a true success. Living free from condemnation will also save you from a life of stress, fear, restlessness, sickness, and disease. Everything that happens in your soul-the emotional and mental realms-will affect your physical body if it is not dealt with properly.
It is interesting to know that the word “condemnation” in the original Greek means “condemning sentence.” Stress is a condemning sentence. Sickness and disease are condemning sentences. But there is therefore now no condemning sentence for those who are in Christ Jesus!

Connect to God

When you believe in Christ and put your faith in Him, God the Father sees you in Christ Jesus. He sees you in the Christ Jesus who is seated at His right hand. All that Jesus is, you are. And all that He has, you have. Can Christ who is seated at the Father’s right hand ever be condemned? No. Well, neither can you, because you are in Him.

Daily Devotional: Connect 40 – Day 13 – Freedom From Distress

Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble, and He saved them out of their distresses. He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death, and broke their chains in pieces. –
Psalms 107:13-14 (NKJV)

Today’s Thought

Have you ever felt trapped in the middle of your circumstances? Have you ever believed you would never rise above constant frustration and disappointment? Grace is the person of Jesus Christ Who was nailed to the cross for your redemption. He has promised to deliver, protect, and preserve you. Allow His grace to impart hope to you in those moments you feel hopeless and help in those moments you feel helpless. When you are worn out, torn down, crushed, depleted, and on the brink of giving up, Grace is the hand that pulls you out of the dark pit of defeat. His grace is the supply that floods every place of need in your life.

Connect to God

There is a person Who has the power to turn everything around for your good. His name is Jesus. In your prayer time, be specific in asking for what you need spirit, soul, and body.

Daily Devotional: Connect 40 – Day 12 – Freedom From Regret

So if the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed. –

John 8:36 (NASB)

Today’s Thought

You are fully free when you have the desire, the ability, and the opportunity to do what God has called you to do. The moment you accepted Christ, this level of freedom became yours for the taking. When you truly believe in Christ, He graces you with the desire to please Him in all you do. He gives you the ability to obey Him as you live a life led by the Holy Spirit. He gives you opportunities daily to say no to sin and selfishness for the purpose of serving others in love. You are free to live a life with no regrets because you chose to follow Jesus.

Connect to God

True freedom comes from trusting in the Lord with genuine faith by daily abiding in and applying the Word!

Daily Devotional: Connect 40 – Day 11 – Called to Freedom

For you were called to freedom, brethren; only do not turn your freedom into an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. – Galatians 5:13 (NASB)

Today’s Thought

The freedom American citizens experience today came by way of the sacrifices of men and women who were willing to endure hardship and suffering for others to live a better quality of life. The ability to worship freely, exercise the right to vote, and have access to education all came with a price someone else was willing to pay – even if it meant they were ready to lay down their life for that cause. It is only right to honor their sacrifice.

Freedom brings with it a responsibility to honor the price paid for it. Jesus was willing to come to Earth, live a life free of sin, and die by way of the cross to display God’s love to all. Out of honor, we should live our life in a way that puts away our selfish ambition and through service, love one another.

Connect to God

In your prayer time today, ask the Lord to examine your heart and reveal if there are any areas of selfish ambition. The antidote to selfishness is service. Trust in the Holy Spirit to create and cultivate a servant’s heart within you.
