21 Days of Prayer: Day 10 – Integrity

The integrity of the upright will guide them, But the perversity of the unfaithful will destroy them. – Proverbs 11:3 (NKJV)

A life of integrity validates the gospel we share in our communities. According to Webster’s Dictionary, integrity means the quality or state of being of sound moral principle, uprightness, honesty, and sincerity. Having integrity means consistently acting on what you believe is right. Living a double life weakens are witness to the world around us. Make a quality decision to be a person of integrity. Consider any consequences or conditions aimed at moving you from your stance irrelevant and immaterial.

Not everyone is going to agree or support your decision to do what you know is right. In fact, some will come against you because of it. The person of integrity is not moved by the actions of others and does not change because the pressure is on. The moment you allow your feelings or the circumstances to enter into your decision-making process, the ability to make a quality decision will be compromised. Choose to stand on the Word of God as the foundation to all of life’s decisions. It may be tough in the beginning, but in the end, it will preserve your quality of life and reinforce the gospel you are called to share.

Thought for the Day:

Make a quality decision to be a person of integrity. Consider any consequences or conditions aimed at moving you from your stance irrelevant and immaterial.

Connect & Reflect:
  • What specific word or phrase from Proverbs 11:3 stood out or spoke to you today?
  • Why does this scripture refer to a lack of faithfulness as perversity?
  • Is it ever acceptable to not walk in complete integrity? Why or why not?
Scripture References: 2 Corinthians 8:21; Philippians 1:10-11; 1 Timothy 3:1-7

Prayer:

Father, Give me wisdom as I face various challenges. I receive your grace to conduct all of my activities with honesty, integrity, and fairness. I ask that You help me to remain aware of Your Presence within me wherever I go. May my life and witness be such that You are not discredited, but rather that Your name may be glorified in all I do. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

LINKED UP KIDS PRAYER TARGETS: Day 10

We are using daily prayer targets as a way to encourage our families to pray for their children each day during 21 Days of Prayer:
The truthful lip shall be established forever, But a lying tongue is but for a moment. – Proverbs 12:19 (NKJV)
  • Integrity – Heavenly Father, help my child understand the importance of truthfulness in every situation regardless of the consequences or rewards. May the promptings of the Holy Spirit help them choose to tell the truth. Even when it is hard to make right choices and especially when no one else knows about the choice they made, may integrity and honesty be their virtue and their protection. In the Name of Jesus, Amen!

21 Days of Prayer: Day 9 – Prayerfulness

In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.  And He who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God. And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to His purpose. – Romans 8:26-28 (NIV)

There will come times in your life where you feel that “you just cannot pray.”  Jesus sent the Holy Spirit to assist you in these times of prayer.  Keeping your heart and mind open to the Holy Spirit’s leading will guide you in the direction of what and how you are to pray. This can involve praying in your spiritual language and then becoming quiet in order to hear the Holy Spirit’s leading. You have the assurance that Holy Spirit will speak on your behalf even if you cannot express your prayers in your natural language- He “intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God.” Since He intercedes, you can be confident in knowing that He is working all things together for your good.
During the 21 Days of Prayer, allow time for the Holy Spirit to intercede on your behalf. The Holy Spirit will never lead you wrong. He will only pray and reveal the will of the Father.

Thought for the Day:

Jesus has sent Holy Spirit to assist you in prayer. Therefore, you can enter your prayer time with a heart full of love and faith knowing God, in all things, works to bring about good on your behalf because He unconditionally loves you.
Connect & Reflect:
  • Reflecting on Romans 8:28, “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, whohave been called according to his purpose,” what area of you life do you doubt that the details are not working into something good? Ask Holy Spirit to search your heart and mind concerning the details.
  • During your prayer time refer often to the Linked UP Church Connect 21 Personal Prayer Guide. Reflect on the Prayer Strategies (pages 22-26).
Scripture References: James 5:14-16; Proverbs 27:17; Matthew 18:19-20
Prayer:
Father, thank you for Holy Spirit. I know He intercedes on my behalf according to Your will. Therefore, I submit my prayer time to Holy Spirit’s leading. Thank you for answering my prayers that I petition during this 21 Days of Prayer. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

  • Prayerfulness – Heavenly Father, grow my child into the habit of praying without ceasing, and in every situation, may they take their requests and concerns to you as well as intercede on the behalf of others. In the Name of Jesus, Amen!

21 Days of Prayer: Day 8 – Service

Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others. – Philippians 2:3-4 (NKJV)

We come to faith as individuals, but we are to grow in the sense of community. Life in Jesus is not meant to be lived in solitary confinement but shared with others. Indeed, when we stand before Christ, we will be judged individually according to our works but God still desires for us to connect to our community of faith for the purpose of preparing us for our everlasting life with the Lord and with one another.
True community in Christ is not created by attempts to make it happen; instead, it is a by-product of others-centeredness, and this in turn is a by-product of discovering our purpose and making a decision to live for God. If the leading enemy of connecting to community is selfishness, the leading contributor to connecting to community is selflessness. While the world values celebrities, the Word values servants. Living for Christ should lead in turn to connecting to community.

Thought for the Day:

Kingdom living is about loving and serving God as well as others.

Connect & Reflect:
  • What specific word or phrase from Philippians 2:3-4 stood out or spoke to you today?
  • How are you are to give back to the local community you reside?
Scripture References: Matthew 5:1-12; John 13:3-17; Philippians 2:5-11

Prayer:

Father, thank You for the opportunity to work with You to share Your goodness with the world. Help me not take for granted the gift it is to share Your gospel to the nations, and to our neighbors. Help me have eyes to see and understand the needs around me and to respond to those needs in joy and hope.
Allow me to serve others as You serve us with gentleness, compassion, and tenderness.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.

21 Days of Prayer: Day 7 – The Word of God

For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven, And do not return there, But water the earth, And make it bring forth and bud, That it may give seed to the sower And bread to the eater, So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.

Isaiah 55:10-11 (NKJV)

God has given us the answers to our problems and challenges. It is His Word. Every answer or solution we need is found in the Bible. Spending time in God’s Word daily will give you godly wisdom, which will make your way prosperous and give you good success.
Each time we speak God’s Word, we give voice to His Word and when angels hear His Word given voice- they respond! Find out what God’s Word says about your situation, believe it and declare it. God’s Word cannot return to Him void; you will see what you believe and confess come to pass!
When you are going through a tough time, it is not enough to know that God’s answer to the problem is “somewhere in the Bible.” Find the scripture in which God has promised the solution. Meditate on it until the truth of that scripture is revealed to you. When you do this, the enemy cannot prevent that Word from God from bearing fruit in your life.

Thought for the Day:

Spending time in God’s Word daily will give you godly wisdom, which will make your way prosperous and give you good success.

Connect & Reflect:

  • What specific word or phrase from Isaiah 55:10-11 stood out or spoke to you today?
  • How can you make meditation of the Word of God a greater priority in your life?

Scripture References: Joshua 1:8; Psalm 103:20; Hebrews 4:12; 1 Peter 1:23

Prayer:

Father, Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. Open my spiritual eyes to see the glimpses of Your glory I cannot see on my own. May I read Your Word and walk in supernatural understanding of the very words of Life before me. I ask you to cause the seeds from Scriptures I read and hear to bear real, noticeable fruit in tangible acts of sacrificial love for others.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

SUNDAY PRAYER FOCUS

Your Needs (Be Specific) and Thanksgiving For All That Was Prayed

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.

Philippians 4:6 (NKJV)

LINKED UP KIDS PRAYER TARGETS: Day 7

We are using daily prayer targets as a way to encourage our families to pray for their children each day during 21 Days of Prayer:

But if anyone obeys his word, God’s love is truly made complete in him. This is how we know we are in him.
1 John 2:5 (NKJV)
  • The Word of God – Father, may my child fall in love with your Word and grow to find it more “precious than gold and sweeter than honey from the comb.” In the Name of Jesus, Amen!

21 Days of Prayer: Day 6 – Grace

For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. Ephesians 2:8-9 (NKJV)

In this verse, a profound truth is being declared. It says we are saved by grace through faith, not one or the other. Think of it this way-grace is what God does; faith is what we do. It takes both working together to receive salvation.
God’s grace has provided not only for salvation but also for every need of your life. That provision is not based on whether you are reading the Bible enough, praying enough, or going to church enough. Before you ever had a financial need, God created the provision. Before you were sick, God, through grace, provided your healing (1 Pet. 2:24). Before you ever became discouraged, God blessed you with all spiritual blessings (Eph. 1:3). That’s grace.
God anticipated every need you could ever have and has met those needs through Jesus before you existed. All The Lord is asking in return is for us to, with our life, purpose to daily honor and appreciate (faith) the finished works of Jesus Christ (grace).

Thought for the Day:

Grace is what God does; faith is what we do. It takes both working together to receive salvation.

Connect & Reflect:
  • What specific word or phrase from Ephesians 2:8-9 stood out or spoke to you today?
  • Are there areas in your life that are going well that you tried to take credit for?
  • How can you daily show honor and appreciation to the finished works of Jesus Christ?
Scripture References: John 1:14-17; Romans 1:16-17; Titus 2:11

Prayer:

Father, I thank you that I have been saved by your grace – through faith. This is not my doing, but it is a gift from you. I know my eternal future is secure because all You have done for me through Jesus. You have made me yours forever. Before I ever had a need, you already provided it for me. Today, by faith, I lay hold to all of your promises.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

21 Days of Prayer: Day 5 – Vessel

Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? I Corinthians 3:16 (NKJV)

One of the most amazing truths of the Christian life is that when we trust in Christ as our Savior, His Spirit takes up residence in us. He’s not just “out there” any longer. He’s living in us. In the same way that Christ stepped out of heaven and came to earth to communicate His love, forgiveness, and power to us, His Spirit steps into the life of each believer to impart wisdom, encouragement, and strength to us-every day. Always, He is literally as near as our breath. We are never alone.
Housing the Holy Spirit also brings responsibility. We represent the King of kings to every person we meet, and we are His ambassadors to those around us (2 Corinthians 5:20). Realizing we are God’s temple transforms our character into the image of Christ by causing us to become aware of what we think, say, do, and value.

Thought for the Day:

The Spirit of God resides on the inside of each believer to daily impart wisdom, encouragement, and strength.

Connect & Reflect:
  • What specific word or phrase from 1 Corinthians 3:16 stood out or spoke to you today?
  • As God’s temple, are there areas of your life that need to be remodeled? What is one step you can take today in that process?
  • How does knowing the Holy Spirit lives within inspire you? How does it challenge you?

Scripture References: Romans 12:1-2; 1 Corinthians 6:19-20; 2 Corinthians 5:17-20

Prayer:

Father, I seek to know You in a greater way.  Make my heart soft and pliable. To think that You want to use me, that You want Your glory to shine through me. What an awesome responsibility! Please help me to always walk worthy of what You have called me to do. Thank You for changing me into what You want me to be and for making me into the image of Your Son.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.

I pray that they will walk closely with You and be vessels that honor You in all things. In the Name of Jesus, Amen!

21 Days of Prayer: Day 4 – Love

In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. I John 4:10-11 (NKJV)

You may know that God cares for you, and loves you, and that He demonstrated His love for you by dying on the cross for you- but do you believe it? It is one thing to know about the love that God has for you, but another thing to actually believe it in your heart.

It is one thing to know that the sun shines on us during the day. But it is another thing to believe that the sun is still shining even though we don’t feel its warmth and all we see are dark clouds. Sometimes we are slow in believing God’s love for us when we are going through a tough time. But God wants you to know and believe that He loves you in the midst of the deal falling through, when that job is slow in coming, when you are having problems on the job or when your child still refuses to come home.

God wants to love you with all that He is and all that He has. He loves you unconditionally regardless of who you are or what you have done because His love is not dependent on you but on Himself. He will never stop loving you. The more of His love you receive, the more you will fall in love with Him. The more you fall in love with Him, the easier it becomes to walk in love with others.

Thought for the Day:

It is one thing to know about the love that God has for you, but another thing to actually believe it in your heart.

Connect & Reflect:

  • What specific word or phrase from 1 John 4:10-11 stood out or spoke to you today?
  • How is love defined in 1 John 4:10 different from the love the world teaches?
  • Are there barriers in your life that try to convince you that God does not love you?

Scripture References: Deuteronomy 6:5; Matthew 22:37-40; 1 John 4

Prayer:

Father, I receive your unconditional love for me. Your love is not something I have to earn or be good enough for, but it is freely given to me. While I was Your enemy, You gave the best gift (Jesus) so I may have everlasting life. With the same love and patience You have shown to me, help me to show your love to all those who I come in contact with. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

In the Name of Jesus, Amen!

21 Days of Prayer: Day 3 – Excellence

And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him. Colossians 3:17 (NKJV)

Excellent people exceed expectations. In other words, they go the extra mile, they do more than is asked, and they take extra steps in ensuring they deliver the highest quality. If people were to describe your work, would excellence come to mind or simply mediocrity? Mediocrity is the enemy of the believer. Doing just enough to get by or believing for the bare minimum in life does not bring glory to God and the excellent spirit within you.

Excellence does not necessarily mean the absence of mistakes, but it does mean the presence of faith and determination. To be excellent at whatever God has called you to do, you must first ask for His strength to accomplish the task and then, secondly, His endurance to complete it. The true goal of excellence is to do the best you can with what you have at every moment.

Thought for the Day:

To be excellent at whatever God has called you to do, you must first ask for His strength to accomplish the task and then, secondly, His endurance to complete it.

Connect & Reflect:

Through your power and might, every task and responsibility given to me will be done with the utmost care and attention to detail. May all that I say and do today reflect the character of Christ within me and bring You glory. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

21 Days of Prayer: Day 2 – Protection

He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, “He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.” – Psalm 91:1-2 (NKJV)

Everyday, we are bombarded with news of conflicts, terrorist attacks, natural disasters, diseases, and new strains of drug-resistant viruses. You may be tempted to ask yourself, “Is there a place where I can truly be safe?”

Yes, there is! God foresaw all these things, and He has promised in His Word protection from every evil known to man. There is no trap set by the devil that our Father has not already delivered us from. Our responsibility is to trust Him and take Him as our Refuge. Make a daily decision to find rest in Him as your dwelling place, and know His angels are watching over you right now. They give heed to the voice of God’s Word. Refuse to live gripped with fear by choosing to speak what God’s Word says concerning His promise of protection for you and your household.

You have access by faith into the secret place of the Most High where no evil can touch you. There is no need to fear living in these times because the Lord is your Refuge and Fortress.

Thought for the Day:

There is no trap set by the devil that our Father has not already delivered us from. Our responsibility is to trust Him and take Him as our Refuge.

Connect & Reflect:

  • How can you practice being in God’s Presence on a daily basis?
