After over 19 years of full time ministry, Joel E. Gregory and his wife found themselves starting life over in Ministry as they stepped out on faith pursuing what they believed God had placed on their hearts. As founders of JEG Ministries they began the journey towards what’s now known as LinkedUP Church in Atlanta, GA.
Joel earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Communications from Bowling Green State University in 1989 being the first black athlete do so within four years in over 22 years of history at that particular school. It was at this school that God started making His call evident in Joel’s life. He became a born again Christian and was mentored by a member of the Campus Crusade for Christ also known as Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA). After graduating and a year of job searching he was eventually hired by Ford Motor Company. Two years after being hired he was promoted to the National Education and Development and Training Center and was then assigned to the Youth Education Sponsors Program (YES) which served Detroit’s elite public middle schools.
In 1991 Joel finally yielded to the call of God on his life and attended the Word of Faith School of Ministry. He graduated with honors in 1993. It was during this time that he volunteered as a youth leader and in the Ministry Room which serviced people new to the faith. The Pastor of Word of Faith said himself that, “…God just wouldn’t leave me alone about Joel Gregory!”
Upon graduating from the School of Ministry, Joel served as a Campus Minister at Oakland University’s United Students for Christ from 1993 to 1994 while working for Ford Motor Company in Dearborn, Michigan. He was ordained and licensed at Word of Faith International Christian Center in 1994. Shortly afterwards, he was appointed as the Youth Pastor of that same church and a few months later at Faith Christian Center in the Atlanta, Georgia area. Joel served in this capacity simultaneously for five years, and during this time of leadership the Glory Phi God Youth Ministry was birthed. Glory Phi God was based on I Corinthians 6:20, which states “For you are bought with a price: therefore, glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.” God has used this ministry to affect the lives of young people across this country and abroad by encouraging young people to live a “God Conscience” life. From there Joel served as an Assistant Pastor and the Director of Education at Word of Faith International Christian Center in Southfield, Michigan. His responsibilities included oversight of the Bible Training Center, Faith Christian Academy (Grades K4-8th), the WOF Athletic Department, Layperson’s Bible School, and Work Place Wisdom Institute/Kingdom Business Institute. All of these entities serviced approximately 1500 adults and children on a yearly basis. His leadership influenced excellence, unity and growth within these departments and the church.
Joel is best known as a loving husband and proud father, who firmly understands that his first ministry is to his family. In 1997, Joel married his best friend, Patricia, also a ministry school graduate from Rhema in Oklahoma. They later had 2 fun loving children, Joelle and Joel II.
Pastor Gregory’s leadership style places great emphasis on oneness, honor and integrity. He believes that the best way to affect lives is to live the example that Jesus set in the Bible, impacting people with God’s love and truth. He has faithfully and loyally served God in full time ministry since 1994. He was installed as Senior Pastor of Faith Christian Center Church of Orlando, FL on July 15, 2007 by its founder, Bishop George L. Davis. Recently Pastor Gregory served as Senior Pastor of Faith Christian Center, Smyrna, GA from September 2009 until September 2013 making an impact in the Metropolitan Atlanta area. Currently Pastor Joel leads a thriving congregation in Atlanta, Georgia known as LinkedUP Church where the Word of God is taught uncompromisingly with great conviction and transparent simplicity. God has convicted Joel to serve the Metro-Atlanta area with youth programs, educational and career advancement opportunities, and various outreach programs that will not only help the community at large but to motivate each individual within the community to better themselves for the benefit of others.
