21 Days of Prayer: Day 20 – Calling

Categories: Principles,Stories

That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power. – Ephesians 1:17-19 (NKJV)

Your calling in life is not hidden from you; it is hidden for you. If God were to reveal His entire plan for your life all at one time, it would overwhelm you. Revelation is progressive. As your grow and mature in a personal relationship with Him, He reveals new facets of His overall plan for your life. In Ephesians 1:17-19, Paul is praying for you to have clarity of purpose.  We were created by God and for His pleasure (Revelation 4:11).
His purpose for your life gives you hope when you feel like you are in hopeless situations. Biblical hope is a confident and positive expectation of good. God wants you to have a confident expectation of good because as His child, He favors you. Christ is in you, the hope of glory; you can expect the glory of God to shine into every area of your life; including your family, job, health, and finances!

Thought for the Day:

Revelation is progressive. As your grow and mature in a personal relationship with Him, He reveals new facets of His overall plan for your life.

Connect & Reflect:
  • What specific word or phrase from Ephesians 1:17-19 stood out or spoke to you today?
  • Does the thought of what God has called you to do, at times, overwhelm you? Why or Why not?
  • What is a practical next step you can take today towards fulfilling what God has called you to do?
Scripture References: John 15:16; Colossians 1:27; 1 Peter 2:9-10

Current Vision of the Church

Write the vision And make it plain on tablets, That he may run who reads it. For the vision is yet for an appointed time; But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; Because it will surely come, It will not tarry. Habakkuk 2:2-3 (NKJV)

As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. – I Peter 4:10 (NKJV)
  • Calling – Heavenly Father, as my child grows in their relationship with you, help them to identify the talents and gifts you have given them.  Help them to use these gifts and talents to serve others and to glorify You. I pray that You help them discover the calling that has been placed on their life. In the Name of Jesus, Amen!
