21 Days of Prayer: Day 17 – Purity

Categories: Principles,Stories

Flee also youthful lusts; but pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart. – II Timothy 2:22 (NKJV)

Purity is an action that comes from the heart. Long before an impure action took place, it began with an impure motive. Purity does not ask the question of, “How far can I go until it is a sin?” Rather asks, “What can I do to not even give the appearance of sin?” Prayer and time with the Lord helps us to filter our hearts from the impurities within the world and cleanse our mind from any fleshly desires.
Purity leads to power. The more we detach from dependence on the world, the more we attach to Christ. The pursuit of purity is a continuous awareness of God’s grace, acceptance, and presence as we trust in Him to reveal more of His character in our lives. We grant the Holy Spirit access to work within us when we refuse to tolerate questionable behaviors, impure thoughts, and other forms of disobedience to what the Word of God instructs us to do.

Thought for the Day:

The pursuit of purity is a continuous awareness of God’s grace, acceptance, and presence as we trust in Him to reveal more of His character in our lives.

Connect & Reflect:
  • What specific word or phrase from II Timothy 2:22 stood out or spoke to you today?
  • For you, what does it look like to pursue righteousness, love, and peace?
  • Do you find it challenging to live a pure life? What are you willing to do to live like Christ?
