21 Days of Prayer: Day 15 – Humility

Categories: Principles,Stories

But He gives more grace. Therefore He says: “God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble. – James 4:6 (NKJV)

God’s kingdom operates differently than the culture of the world. Society today operates in a lot of selfishness, pride, and arrogance-promoting one’s self above others and doing things completely contrary to what the Word of God teaches. It’s important that leaders in the body of Christ counter this culture because it is vital to receiving more grace from God.
Humility is not a weakness or low self-esteem. In fact, humility is quite powerful. Humility is the choice to humble yourself to what the Word says over what you may think or feel in any situation. Pride is choosing your way of handling situations above God’s way. Also, pride is not something you deal with one time and say “I’m glad I dealt with that.” Each day, through prayer and time spent in the Word, allow the Lord to show you areas in your life where pride may be present. Don’t stop there, choose to make an immediate decision to walk in humility in those areas. The more you obey what God’s Word says about handling all of life’s decisions, the more grace will operate through you.

Thought for the Day:

Humility is the choice to humble yourself to what the Word says over what you may think or feel in any situation.

Connect & Reflect:
  • What specific word or phrase from James 4:6 stood out or spoke to you today?
  • What in your life is competing with obedience to God or the duties He has given you?
  • How can you cultivate humility in your interactions with others today?

Father, I am coming to realize how dangerous pride is in the life of a believer and how important true, godly humility is to the heart of God. Keep me from falling prey to the many temptations that pride seems to scatter in my path, where I want to be the center of attention and desire to receive all the acclaim, the glory, that rightly belongs to You. Teach me Your ways and show me how I may clothe myself in godly humility until I am more like Christ and less like me.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Natural Authority

Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence.

We are using daily prayer targets as a way to encourage our families to pray for their children each day during 21 Days of Prayer:
Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering; – Colossians 3:12 (NKJV)
  • Humility – Heavenly Father, cultivate within my child the supernatural ability to treat others as more important than themselves. Remove pride and arrogance from their heart and fill it with gratitude for all you have done. In the Name of Jesus, Amen!
